imidazoline receptors
Receptors for imidazolines such as agmatine and idazoxan that modulate sympathetic outflow in the brainstem. I1 is elevated on platelets and in brains of patients with depression. Also expressed on vascular smooth muscle where they may mediate inhibition of proliferation. Candidate protein for I1-receptor is 85 kD and upregulated by idazoxan and agmatine. I2 receptors have been proposed to have a role in modulating pain during acute inflammation.
